Dr. Sherif Alaa is an Associate Professor of Law and a partner at ALKETBI & PARTNERS in Dubai. Before moving to Dubai, he worked at top-tier law firms in Egypt and Paris. Dr. Sherif studied law at Ain Shams University. He holds an LL.M. from Duke University, a corporate law master’s, and a Ph.D. from Université Lyon III Jean-Moulin. He is licensed to practice in New York, Egypt, and potentially in Paris.

With more than 14 years of PQE, Dr. Sherif has gained a wide range of expertise that spans across different areas of law. He has extensive experience in commercial and investment arbitration in industries such as construction, technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), shareholder disputes, sports, and energy. He has represented clients before courts and arbitral institutions in different jurisdictions, including Dubai, DIFC, Cairo, U.S. courts, Lausanne, Paris, and London. He also has significant experience in corporate commercial and capital markets law, as he is the legal advisor to several listed investment companies in the GCC.

In addition to his legal practice, Dr. Sherif teaches law in Arabic, English, and French at prestigious universities in Egypt and France. He has published extensively on topics and legal issues that occur recurrently in domestic and international disputes.
